Slower speeds for MWeb clients

MWeb clients hosting their HR Manage database on our server will experience slower speeds when using HR Manage from 28 October 2010. This comes after MWeb recently announced that they will no longer pay other internet service providers (e.g. Telkom, MTN Business, etc.) for local transit bandwidth. From Thursday, 28 October all traffic between MWeb and other local ISPs that do not peer with MWeb directly will be routed internationally.

Our dedicated servers are hosted by one of South Africa's leading internet hosting providers and uses the MTN Business backbone. MWeb clients will thus experience slower speeds when accessing various local websites and not just HR Manage. Unfortunately, this issue is out of our control and we have not estimate timeline on when MTN Business will be "peering" with MWeb.

If you are a MWeb client and HR Manage is working too slowly, you have the following options at your disposal:

• The key HR Manage users (for the Windows application), can perhaps use 3G connections when working on HR Manage
• The HR Manage database can be moved to one of your own servers. See technical requirements page. The cost of the current maintenance agreement might be affected depending on how we will gain access to the server during upgrades and support.
• Change to another ISP

If the speeds are still acceptable however, then you can simply continue working as you have up to now.
